What happens when life takes away everything—your mother, your home, your safety, and even your dreams?

As a child, Rinku Baruah Mahanta wanted to become a Deputy Commissioner. But violence and political unrest turned her world upside down. Her family lost their home, and she grew up fighting through pain and struggle.

Step by step, she rebuilt her life—got married, became a mother, and even started a small food business. But her heart pulled her toward a bigger purpose. She saw the pain of the homeless and the mentally ill, and she decided to help them.

In 2009, she started ASHROI NGO. By 2018, she opened a rehabilitation centre for people battling mental illness and addiction.

Today, the same woman who once had no roof over her head is giving shelter, care, and hope to hundreds of others.

Her journey is not just about survival—it is about turning pain into power, and struggle into hope.
